A peaceful summer escape with water, greenery, and golden light

Tucked along a quiet trail in Lawrence, NJ, this hidden gem is one of my favorite warm-weather locations. It’s relaxed, playful, and full of movement, which makes it especially amazing for families with little ones.

Whether you’re planning a family session, maternity shoot, or just want updated portraits in a natural setting, this location gives you that effortless, outdoorsy feel that photographs so beautifully.

This location is great for clients who love the outdoors but want something more forested than a typical field or park. It’s especially great for families with young kids who love to explore; there’s plenty of space to roam while still offering privacy and peace. From splashing around the creek, to skipping rocks, to walking through trails of greenery, this hidden gem is a favorite!

What to Wear

Because this is a creek location, I always recommend:

Neutrals or soft earth tones
Flowy dresses for movement
Outfits you don’t mind getting a little wet at the bottom
Barefoot for kids (and adults if you're up for it!), or consider crocs/water shoes if you'd like to venture in the creek

Parking & Accessibility

There is parking available near the trail entrance. From there, it’s a short walk to the creek area.

Keep in mind:

You may be walking on uneven ground
The area is natural terrain (rocks, dirt paths, etc.)
Strollers are not ideal for the actual creek area

I always recommend arriving a few minutes early so we can ease into the walk and start relaxed.

Best Time of Year:

This location truly shines in the late spring, summer, or early fall. It’s especially beautiful during golden hour when the sun filters through the trees and reflects off the water. If you’ve ever dreamed of that “running through the water at sunset” kind of photo, this is the spot!
