Check out some of the fabulous backdrops at Washington Crossing Park:
Hibbs House Kitchen Garden & Historic Village Garden
Both of these gardens encompass many species of plants that are accurate to 1776 or earlier and likely to have been grown in Bucks County during the Revolution.
The Hibbs House Kitchen Garden features a tool shed and large trellis. Across the way, the Historic Village Garden is the oldest garden at Washington Crossing Park, where you will find this green door and stairs that I often like to use as a backdrop.
McConkey's Ferry Inn
McConkey’s Ferry Inn offers a beautiful stone backdrop with tons of texture and character, along with classic white doors and windows. It’s a great spot for both larger group shots and smaller, more intimate moments, with a timeless, slightly rustic feel that photographs really nicely year-round
In Front of the River
In front of the river, you get a wide open, scenic backdrop with soft water views and natural tones. It’s perfect for a mix of classic portraits and more candid moments, especially with the light reflecting beautifully near sunset.
Against the Visitor Center
The area along the visitor center offers a beautiful stone wall backdrop with soft, natural tones and great texture. It also provides some consistent shade, which is perfect for even lighting throughout your session. This spot is simple and classic, making it great for clean, timeless portraits.
Along the Boat Barn
I love taking photos along the boat barn - it provides a simple, clean backdrop with its soft white wood panels and stone base. It’s perfect for a mix of classic portraits and movement shots (especially with kids running around), since the space is open and easy to work in. The neutral tones photograph beautifully year-round and keep the focus on your family.
Amongst the Cherry Blossom Trees
Cherry Blossoms are typically in bloom the last week of March through the first week of April and can be found in the front of the park (off River Rd.). When in bloom, they offer a pretty pink background and airy spring vibes.
Benches in the Park
The benches throughout Washington Crossing are such an easy, versatile spot for photos. Surrounded by trees, open grass, and seasonal foliage, they create a relaxed, natural setting that works beautifully year-round. They’re perfect for both classic sitting poses and more candid, connected moments, especially for families and larger groups.
Frye House
The Frye House at Washington Crossing is a beautiful, simple spot with a colonial-style doorway, neutral white walls, and textured stone steps. The tones here are super natural, which keeps the focus on your family while still giving a timeless feel. The steps are perfect for sitting and interacting, making it a great spot for cozy, candid moments, especially with little ones.
