God bless Michael! I recently photographed Michael and his family on his special communion day, and it was picture perfect! Communions are so special to photograph, and I’m so glad I got to work with this family once again! I first met this family in 2022 when I photographed their older daughter, Vanessa, for her very own communion! Fast forward to now, it was her little brothers time to make this special leap forward!

With both of these communion sessions, Vanessa’s previous session and Michael’s current communion session, we met at two different locations for photos. We met at their church, St. Gregory the Great in Hamilton, NJ to capture some photos within the church itself, and some extended family photos. This spot was absolutely beautiful. There is something so meaningful about documenting part of the session right where the sacrament takes place. The quiet moments inside the church, the stained glass, the altar, it all adds such depth to the gallery.

Communion sessions are truly special to photograph. Typically held in the springtime, they pair perfectly with outdoor locations that are blooming and full of life. I love working at places like Sayen Gardens, which offers a variety of floral and greenery backdrops that complement the white dresses and suits so beautifully. Spring light, fresh flowers, and joyful smiles make for such timeless portraits.

During Communion sessions, I always make sure to capture the must-have shots that commemorate this important moment. From close-up praying hands and rosary details to portraits holding the Bible, I focus on documenting the traditional elements families cherish. But I also love including a mix of personality; relaxed smiles, candid laughs, and even a few silly, laid-back moments that reflect your child’s true spirit. Communion sessions are about honoring faith, but they are also about celebrating your child and who they are right now.

With friends and family by Michael’s side, we took the opportunity to include some extended family photos at the church as well. These moments are just as important - grandparents, godparents, siblings, all gathered together for such a meaningful day. Having those images to look back on years from now makes the gallery even more special.
