BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!

To some, scheduling a session in the cold winter months may not seem like a good idea, but I’m here to let you know outdoor sessions in the Winter can be just as beautiful as any other season!

When it comes to knowing what to expect during your cold session, it can be a bit tricky, which is why I compiled a few of my favorite tips to prepare for your Winter session!

1: DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

This may come as a no brainer to some, but it is so important to dress for the weather! It may be tempting to want to wear that cute tank top for a few photos or to dress your son in shorts, but I advise you not to!

2: CONSIDER WEARING A COAT

You may think that wearing a. coat for a session may not be a good idea, but they can look just as great as any other clothing piece!

If you’re not into wearing a coat for your session, no biggie - I still advise bringing a coat to wear for in between shots!

3: BRING A BLANKET

Not only will you be able to wrap yourself in a blanket for in between shots, but it can make for a great prop!

When it comes to using a blanket for a prop, you don’t want the focus of the photo to be drawn to the blanket - I suggest opting for a neutral colored blanket, or something with slight pattern. The purpose of using a blanket for the photos is to bring a pop of color to the images, not drain you out, which is why I suggest something neutral!

4: LAYER UP

Layering is one of the most stylish things to do in fashion. Although this may seem like a simple tip, this is one that is often overlooked! You don’t necessarily need to wear two sweaters or two pairs of pants, but you can easily layer by doubling up on socks, or even wearing a simple t-shirt under your cute sweater for some extra warmth!

5: BRING HEAT WARMERS

While this is not needed, it can be a great idea! Heat warmers are great to place on your body during sessions and can easily be hidden under clothing.

6: WINTER ACCESSORIES

Accessories can be great for your photos because they add a little pop to your outfit! Consider wearing gloves, scarves, or even some winter hats! Even if you aren’t too into the idea of wearing winter accessories, it can be great to wear in between shots!

When it comes to winter sessions, it is understandable that sometimes it is just too cold for sessions. When scheduling a session, keep in mind that we may be able to reschedule due to inclement weather. Days prior to our schedule session I’ll be paying attention to the forecast to make sure we choose the perfect day!
