WHAT COULD REALLY GO WRONG?

Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, are just a few examples of places that offer affordable photo labs. There are also online photo labs such as Snapfish, Shutterfly or even Google Photos that you may think are great! While these photo labs may sound appealing and great because of the affordable pricing, there are some reasons why you should not use these labs.

PRO #1: Affordable pricing

The best thing about cheaper labs is that the pricing is very affordable for anyone, and it won't cost a ton. Although they are more affordable, this is because of the chemicals that are used to produce the photos are not the best quality.

PRO #2: Easy access and fast return time

Photo kiosks can easily be accessed at your local drugstore with an hour pickup. This is a great thing and awesome to get photos quickly and in a pinch! Keep in mind, although these photos are created within minutes and you can collect them almost instantly, your photos may not go through an inspection process to make sure the photo you ordered is just as it is printed.

CON #1: Bad quality/coloring

This is a con I can truly vouch for. When you choose to print photos through a cheaper lab, oftentimes, these labs hire people who are not professionally trained to produce and print quality photos, which may mean that the chemicals may not be regulated or changed as needed.

CON #2: Parts of the image may be missing

When you print photos through an online service, you usually have the option to crop the photo to fit the certain size you are trying to print. While most labs have the option to adjust the sizing and crop, sometimes the photo may not be lined up properly and may result in parts of the photo being cropped, or just missing.

CON #3: It may cost more money in the long run

You may think - it's only a few cents or an extra dollar, but you'll still be spending money to correct the photo that should of been printed great the first time!

CONCLUSION

When you are investing in a photographer to capture your photos, you want to make sure they look just as good online, as they do printed. Save yourself the time and money by printing your photos through a professional photo lab which will make sure your photos look good - and that you won’t need to pay more money to print another copy in hopes of it being good.

So, what are your thoughts? While cheaper labs do have a few pros, at the end of the day, they are not perfect. To some, printing their photos through a professional lab may be worth the small investment and worth the hassle. Now, it is your choice to decide where you would like to print your photos!
